Premise For Christian Arguments Against Evolution

By Essie Osborn

There have been conflicting beliefs about the origin of life posed by both scientists and the Christian community. God created the earth and all its contents according to Christians. Human beings are therefore his handiwork. This has been rubbished by scientists who say that all living things started as simple cells. Man in this school of thought resulted from the evolution of the guerrillas and apes. Christian arguments against evolution have never ceased, though.

The main theorist of Evolution was Charles Darwin who believed that species originated from simpler life forms. To him, the baboons are the ancestors of man. With time they evolved to become Homo sapiens sapiens or the intellectual man. This was prompted by changes in the environment and genetic makeup.

The Christians still stick to the biblical accounts of creation in the first and second chapters of the book of Genesis. God is believed to have created the heavens and the earth and all that is therein. He then made man in his own image, created a partner from his ribs called Eve and placed them in the Garden of Eden. He then commanded them to reproduce and fill the earth.

Most theologians of the Christian religion have for a long time demonized the evolution theory. The issue of man having to emerge out of a lesser being is clearly outrageous, in their view. If those chemical equations put forward were able to work, then it could be possible by now to raise the dead or to create a person from scratch, given the intense researches that have been conducted in this area.

The numerous predictions about the end of the world have come from calculations based on available data and issues such as climate change. A case in point was the Two Thousand Millennium when everything was in a standstill. This goes to the favor of the believers of Christ since their master warned them that no one knows the day or the hour when He shall return. They only need to diligently await His return when they start seeing the signs of the end times.

Darwinian arguments contradict religious teachings and are thus unwelcome in the church. Just a mere man cannot possess such knowledge unless revealed to him by the gods, yet Darwin did not believe in creation, leave alone the existence of God. This is just theory and its truthfulness and wrongness is disputable. However, it is hard to dismiss the credibility of holy writings. These were proclaimed by the all knowing creator.

In matters of faith it is hard to sway people to the right or to the left. A long held belief cannot be dismissed by a mere theory which, thousands of years down the line, is yet to be proven. Since its beginning, the earth has always been the same. Only the perception of men and their utilization of resources have changed. Education has also caused some confusion here and there.

The war of words still continues with the scientists pushing hard and the believers maintaining their stance. With time, one group might win. The Christians believe that the rupture of the church will be the end of this world. Researchers, however, hold that only natural phenomena such as climate change can wipe out life on earth if not kept on check.
